Joy unspeakable! I’ve finagled myself a dial-up account while I’m here in Puerto Rico. Coming here after spending any time in New York is like hitting a brick wall: the slow-down is quite a jolt. I brought my scanner along to do my part to preserve the family heritage, too. This is going to be fun…
Before you ask, yes, New York is as delicious as always. It was also bleepingly cold the past two days, something for which I was decidedly unprepared. So what? I finally got to visit the Rose Center for Earth and Space, because I like space and stuff. Sadly, a lot of the smaller, hands-on exhibits already have been ravaged by the masses and are no longer in working order, but the place was nonetheless quite a geek-treat. Also saw — and enjoyed! — the Vagina Monologues. Who knew!
I lied. Ain’t no way I’ll have a chance to scan photos before I take off tomorrow morning. Didn’t I mention? I’m taking a week off to visit Puerto Rico (family, friends, food, great coffee, fun in the sun) by way of New York (need I say more?). I’ll do what I can to be in touch. Otherwise, see you on the 28th…
So what have I been doing lately? Well, I did a couple things for work:

Oyea, and photography. (I’ll post those later tonight.) I’m still evaluating the optical possibilities of the gear I have, see. Pity the insta-developing machine at the Hyde Park, Tampa, FL, Eckerd Drugstore where I had my film developed completely mangled my prints. The negatives are okay, though. Every day that passes I wonder how much longer I’ll be able to live without a film scanner.
