Rant
Memo to Lewis Wolpert: you’re a moron. “Science” isn’t a thing in and of itself, that it should be protected from the “pollution” of art. And it’s not as if there exist two discrete species of brain, one for artistic thought, one for scientific. The same mind produces both. To assert that a lowly painting can never illumine the way the world works (as science, presumably, can) is to miss the point entirely. The current impetus to reconcile artistic thought with scientific thought merely acknowledges that creativity has been analyzed out of science by narrow, utterly uncreative people like yourself, and we sure could use it back. But as long as the likes of you continue to have a stranglehold on knowledge we all will continue to suffer loss.

and then there was that band that were so cool that they didn’t even record anything. or play live. or have a name. or any members. So who’s cool in your book?

Now why didn’t I think of this before? A music swap, using CDs! How cool is that… Just like in the old days of swapping tapes, but with the added swank of a shiny disc. Not as if I actually know anyone else who owns a CD-burner besides me, or anything. But it sure is nice to imagine the feeling of the postman dropping on my lap five CDs of completely new music, lovingly crafted by someone who cares. Ah well…
