One week ago today

Went to see MadAdaM, 60 Cycle Hum and Kalus play in Lakeland, FL, and all I got was this lousy grabass picture. (Not true, I also got to watch a great show with some of the friendliest people around)

Office Space

Yesterday, I completely forgot to do one apparently huge part of my duties — to do the “imaging” of product shots incoming from the creative department. Really, I forgot. I was groggy and spacey all day, and I had a continuous stream of things to do, and those virtual-model girls were using the imaging machine for some portion of the afternoon. And I forgot. So there was a huge panic awaiting me when I showed this morning. And that was the better part of the day.

Today was the first day when I felt as though I could walk from this job. That was before the huge paycheck, sure, (my first as a proper employee) but still. In my non-materialistic, non-needy heart-of-hearts I could’ve walked without a single regret. I have got to get me some new work. This is only going to get worse, you know, because of christmas impending.

So to sum up, I hate this job. I knew I would hate it a year ago when it was first offered to me, I knew I would hate it when I applied for it in January, and I knew I would hate it when I signed on, as a temp, with a huge paycut, to do it anyway, in June. Yes, I am that desperate, and I hate feeling this way.

I?m so clever. Come on, say it. You know it?s true. Not sure if I?ve mentioned this, but the apartment building where I live was sold, and the new owners have been poking about trying to determine what they?ve gotten themselves into. So over the past few weeks they?ve asked to come in and check out my apartment more than once. Problem with that is, this is a ?no pets? kinda place, and, well, you already know about snakers. I?m pretty sure I was in the clear with the previous owner that ?no pets? meant no ?furry and destructive? or ?feathery and screechy? pets. Quiet pets in an enclosed environment should be okay, right? But, just to be on the safe side, I opted to cover my tracks. How, you ask? Simplicity itself. I tore down snakers?s terrarium and stored it in my walk-in closet (no law against owning pet enclosures, see), put snakers inside a pillow case, and took her to work with me stashed inside the same backpack I always carry. Like Dave says, there is no “off” position on my genius switch.

Booyah!

In a fit of pique over the neighbor’s incessantly-yapping dog, I played Bejeweled and scored 34,470. My previous high scores had been something on the order of 2,000. It’s the little things, you know.
