Rocks

Seems like my innocuous little mention to Kelly of February’s splash-page pic started a deluge of visitors from her band’s site this way. (That’s one of the reasons February’s splash is still up.) Hello there! Since it seems like a shame to see you have made such a long trip for just one photo I’ll be posting the rest of that series (oh yes, there are more!) during this week.

De Colores

Just when you thought we had a real (funny) example of a black-and-white event (as defined by the BushCo doctrine) in The “Capture” of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, someone has to go put it in quotes. (Turns out maybe Pakistan forces caught him a long time ago and broke the news at a strategically appropriate time, or maybe he’s been dead for months. Hell, for all we know for sure we can just as confidently say he emigrated and now drives an ice cream truck in your neighborhood.) The moral of the story? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If BushCo tells you it’s black-and-white, expect colors.

Civil Unrest

Let me tell you a little about me. I play well with others. I cover my mouth when I sneeze. I yield in traffic. I say “please,” “excuse me,” and “thank you.” I help little old ladies across the street. And I will park in the handicapped spot at the post office momentarily while I go in to check my mail, if said office is closed for business for the day.So I’m not above bending the rules, but not to the extent that the world should cave in over my selfishness.

But when some fruity-looking (don’t tell me lavender-hued tie-dye button-down shirt isn’t fruity) middle-aged SUV-jockey takes it upon himself to be the world’s police and gets in my face about it (literally — he met me at the door as I exited the building), it’s pretty much impossible for me to back down.

Words were said.

After a particularly saucy riposte of mine (so I will have you believe — the truth was probably far tamer) the man replies,

“Well, I’m an angry man and I like taking it out on people.”

The tone sure was sarcastic but, what an odd thing to say.

That pretty much shut me up.

Later I imagined that is just the sort of reaction I might have towards a girl who I was sure (in my insecurity) would shoot me down if I hit on her, which I wouldn’t because, you know.

Boom. Shot down. That biatch.

Then I thought, could it be that he…?

Nah, no way.
