You heard it here first. One week from today I will be working my last day with the mighty HSN. Greater opportunity and an increasing need for sanity have lured me away to Cherry and Company, purveyors of fine print- and web design. See you there!

2. DVD playback
3. Quicktime playback
4. Network autosensing
5. User-based and share-based file permissions
6. Multitasking among 12 or more applications
7. Random crashes (Internet Explorer still manages to hang itself ocassionally, but that’s to be expected of a Microsoft app)
8. One address book for all address-savvy applications (e-mail, calendar, etc.)
9. On-screen antialiasing
10. One (multilingual!) spell-checker for all text-savvy apps

If you spend any time working with a machine, for career or play, little benefits like these begin to add up.

Seethe with envy, Bachelor junkies: she just so happens to sit about 12 feet away from me at work. In the 11 months I have worked there, she has made eye contact with me exactly once, to ask for a business favor. But, you know what they say: a silver spoon (and homicidal tires; and no sense of shame) beat looks, personality and a good heart any day.

Forget bridges and college buildings: you know you’ve made a real impact (ha-ha!) when someone names an asteroid, a chewing lice, various natural phenomena, or maybe a quaint little mountain town after you.
