Madrid, Te Quiero

Yes, I learned about the train attacks in Madrid yesterday (no thanks to “My Yahoo,” who seems to have fallen into cryogenic suspension as of the 9th, well before the attacks). I’m particularly touched because I’ve often dreamed of living in Madrid, and consider it a spiritual hometown, after a fashion. All my love, condolences and solidarity to Madrileños everywhere.

The news is, there is no news

At the turn of the month I finished a 5-week stint with the local GEAC headquarters and have been home, car-less, since. Remember Roatan? If things had gone according to the original plan I would be on my way right about now, there to while away the Spring months typesetting a phonebook in Paradise. So things haven’t gone quite according to plan. Bummer. It may happen later in the year, or it may not happen at all. In the meantime I’m trying to figure out what to do with all my crap: I’m certainly not carting all this junk to New York (or wherever I end up). The whole vagabonding idea has re-surfaced, too.

Touches

Must’ve dropped some MiracleGro™ on the right-hand sidebar, as it has been growing like crazy lately. New To You:

  • Something I’ve been calling my MediaPile™: Mini-reviews of what I’ve been reading/watching/listening. Linked to Amazon in case you feel spendy. Will archive these in a separate page when the pile gets ridiculously deep.
  • Then there’s the LinkPile™, where I drop links that I find noteworthy for some reason. Usually the tooltip will explain why, but don’t hold me to that.
  • I’ve moved links to friends under People I Know™, because they deserve better.
  • Moved the weather map under a section of Local Interest, where pointers to locally-relevant sites gather.
  • And finally, began collecting acknowledgments, credits, and other footnote-y information under the heading of Colophon, because I like the way the word sounds.

Now as always, I invite you to let me know what you think.
